How It Works
An overview of the process
Diagnosis
It starts with your explanation of the problem and then I trouble shoot to find a solution. With some older equipment, it isn't always possible, but for a fixed fee, I can tell you if it's possible to fix the item or if it's time to look for a replacement...
If your item is fixable, I'll give you an estimate for the work which is usually on or under the price given. In the event that it ever becomes a bigger job, I'll talk to you before giving you any big surprises on price.
Fixing
Before I do any work, I'll give you an estimate of the costs involved. This may on occasion vary from the final price - but sometimes, especially with older gear, it isn't always possible to know what's going on until I get into the workings. If anything is looking like it will be significantly different, I'll get in touch with an update before any work commences.
I'll give you a time frame in which you can expect the work to be completed - but if for example a NOS part requires ordering from Japan for example, I'll update you on this before the part is even ordered.
FAQ's
Do you do TV's?
Not really. There are many reasons why, logistics and established
technicians for these, I specialise in audio equipment mainly, give me a call and I’ll see if I can help.
When do I pay?
Upon collection - when you see it is working / correct as per your requirements. I offer a full no quibble money back guarantee.
How long will it take?
I get busy a lot, so please give me at least 2 weeks notice in order to avoid disapppointment. Once a job is booked in, no-one queue jumps.
Do you do vintage stuff?
Yes - in fact the less DSP processing the item relies on - the easier the fix. Please note that older gear may need harder to order parts which may have to be sourced abroad.
Can I pay in instalments?
Sorry - payment is on collection only. This is non-negotiable. I have young mouths to feed :) I hope you understand.
What if it can't be fixed?
My diagnostic service will identify anything that is 'gone for good' and you'll only pay the £50 cost to identify the problem.
